drop spindles?

Just one quick question. I am in progress of ordering a complete dropkit for mine '79. So I searched and read several pages and found out that some say there are differences in rotors and some not.
Some say you have to measur before if you have 1" or 1,25" rotors.
Other shops don't state this.
So what is fact, are there differences or not?

Thank you!
Michel

Re: drop spindles?

The spindles are indeed different. I would be suspect of getting the right parts from anyone who doesn't want to know which ones your truck has.

I'd measure my rotors and then order a good name brand spindle like a Western, BellTech, Ground Force, etc.

Re: drop spindles?

Measure the rotor thickness (between the inner and outer pads basically).

Re: drop spindles?

DJM makes 3" sindles. I have had good luck with them and they are priced lower than most...

Re: drop spindles?

Hey guys, thank you all for your replies. I checked my rotors today and they are 1.25. I am going to order an wester chassis 5.5/7 kit at performance suspension. For me it is quit curious that the rotor thickness makes an difference. If we would talk about the baerings, ok, but so it doesn't make sense to me, but maybe this put all together in one.
@bigblock73 Thank you, and I just wanna to thank you for your grat website, which took me to this forum and has rather the best information on our trucks. I am in progress on me own side at the moment. www.los-lowrider.com it will be online in several days.
@moneyeater Ich hab deinen Laster hier schon einige Male gesehen, hab aber nie darauf geachtet, daß du auch aus Deutschland kommst. Würde mich freuen, wenn wir in kontakt bleiben1

I believe that the rotor, spindle, and bearings are all different. The rotor width is just the easiest way to determine what you have.
