Unhappy ywt more electrical questions...

turn signal indicator lamp in the dash is lit when i turn on my headlights...
the turn signal itself doesn't light up as a running light, but does function as a turn signal if that makes any sense...

also i think my windshield wiper motor is dead, tried grounding the connections at the motor but get nothing...
if i replace the motor does it come with the washer pump?
and what's the easiest way to get the washer arms off?

Signal indicator lighting up when you turn on headlights tells me that a signal/parking light assembly up front is loose and not grounding correctly. What year is this? Have you checked the fuse for your wipers? Unless you order a wiper with washer pump, it comes without washer pump.

i'll check the ground on that...
i checked the fuse for the wipers, but maybe for giggles & $h%ts, i'll swap it out...
it's a '72, i thought the washer was integral with the pump on these...
oh, what's the easiest way to get the wiper arms off if i have to swap out the pump?

I got a set of metal picks from Wal-mart. The ones with the yellow and black handles. PM brand. Use the 90 degree to get under the clip that locks it down, then pull it off. Careful of the paint if you got a purty one. Might need something to help pry up the wiper off the splines if they been on awhile.

The turn signal light is desined to come on when ever you burn out a light. It is a warning. It also does that if there are problems in the circuit, but that is a secondary thing, not really designed for it.

Well aint it amazing the things you learn hanging around these boards. I have had the turn signal light problem intermitantly since I got my truck. I never knew it was designed to function as a warning light...better go and check my bulbs as it is doing it at the moment. (and my grounds) kinda possible that it's a bad ground as the front turn signals are in the wrong opening in the grille (previous owners mistake)
