Grapefruit yellow paint#

I'm thinking of repainting my truck two tone, grapefruit yellow/frost white.
Does anyone have the paint code/number for those colors?
I have the GM codes 525/521 (two tone code 545) and the PPG codes 2324/2185 from http://autocolorlibrary.com/cgi-bin/...truck-pg01.jpg , but my paint shop couldn't find those codes in their computer, they are using Glasurit, a European brand I think.
They said the codes were probably too old and been deleted from their system.
So I wonder if anyone might have newer codes or codes from another paint brand?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

LUV, thanks alot for your effort.
Maybe that will be the way to go, to look for another color that match.

Yes the paintshop told me Glasurit was owned by BASF, German company?
What does R-M stand for, I haven't heard of that company?

Thanks for your help.

Re: Grapefruit yellow paint#

My truck is a 68, and this is supposed to be the original color. It was faded so bad before it got painted it's hard to tell, but I think it is it, or at least close. If you think it's what you are looking for, I'll call my paint guy, and find out the color code.

Re: Grapefruit yellow paint#

Question? I like the way the yellow truck has the two tone with the white on top, but I've also seen a different way of doing where the the top is only painted from the roof down. Example below. Which is more original ?

Re: Grapefruit yellow paint#

I'm pretty sure mine is original. This truck was bought by my father in 69, so I know the paint that was on it before was original, and these lines match up to what it was before. Here's a pic of her, before all the work.

Wow, bout the same angle too. How'd I manage that? LOL

Re: Grapefruit yellow paint#

Try www.automotivetouchup.com this guy was awsome in helping me with my paint code and sent me a perfect mathing touchup in a 12oz spray bomb and a little vial with brush for detail work. Also he told me that most of the older gm paint codes need to be pre ceded by WD to search them on a data base.Hope this helps

Re: Grapefruit yellow paint#

Yeller68,
Your pictures don’t show, i only get red x's.
The yellow I'm looking for was available 1970-1972 so if your truck has the original color it's probably not what I'm looking for, thanks anyway.

Chevy68c10,
I haven't seen any truck painted in that two tone scheme before but it could well be original.

cdowns,
just match this

I will try to match the color but not the texture

Thanks for the pic but being a 68 I don't think it is the right color.

Thanks a lot for the link, great site. It helped a lot.
After searching their sites for a while I think I found what I was looking for here:http://www.sherwin-automotive.com/fo...car_detail.cfm
I selected 1971 Chevy Truck and the codes came up.
525 yellow= WA5201 and 521 white= WA5111.
I think this is the numbers my painter needs.
Thanks a lot to everyone.

Thanks for the pic, I think I've seen it before somewhere but I didn't save it then.
It seems to me it is a pretty unusual color scheme but it is my favourite one

Here you go.
The number 525 is today number for the Chevy's old number 2324.
It's what I repainted my Blazer with(factory color)

BobbyK, Thanks a lot for the pics.
Now that I know PPG still has the color I will maybe go that route, buy the paint from PPG and hand it over to my painter, he told me he wouldn't mind that.
My painter didn't find the yellow color in the Glasurit system though we had all these codes to search from:
525, 2324, WA5201.
He said Glasurit delete older color codes to make room for all the new colors coming every year, we did call the Glasurit central offices in Denmark and Germany and they will make a search if there is any old codes saved somewhere.
Bobby, really nice Blazer you got there.
Again thanks.
