how much POR-15 does it take...

i was wondering how much POR-15 it would take to coat a SWB frame? A pint, quart or a gallon? If anyone has used this stuff i would appreciate it. Oh yeah, is there any where else to buy the stuff other than online/? thanks.

I'm not familiar with POR15, but I sprayed my frame with a black etch and it took about 1/2 gallon sprayable. Depending on the mixing ratio, you can get by with a quart of POR 15 if the reducer and hardener adds another quart. I did spray the top, bottom and inside the rails.

if you are spraying it, a resporator is REQUIRED...that stuff is NASTY, if brushing it on, then good ventilation is all that's really required.
2 weeks ago i did the rear 1/2 of my longhorn... from the back of the cab on back, including leafs, axle tubes (didn't do the pumpkin, too oily) and all crossmembers. I dod 2 coats, and it took a little over a quart.

Re: how much POR-15 does it take...

tripleblack,
i used it to paint my frame. i have never sprayed before. i used right at 2 qrts. i sanded the frame to bare metal & then just started shooting. i like the way it turned out. word of caution!! for sure use a mask & what ever yo udo cover stuff up!!! it will go everywhere!!!. but it seems to stay on pretty good.

good luck!!!
rodstored-72

p.s. i also have a 2wd swb frame.

Dude, I just called around and found out the POR-15 comes in Silver, Gray, Semi Gloss and Black, what color would you go with, the truck is a longhorn that is blue and white and i am thinking of keeping the paint combo.
