Lightbulb 1970 chevy stepside

hello. i am looking for a set of rims for my truck. i am a 16 year old and my truck isnt lifted but me and my dad put heavy duty suspension on it and it rides a little higher. i have two choices right now, get some fairly new alluminum rims and then i can run the size tires i want. (budget). or by some from from the store. i want to run 31x10.50 15's. but if i buy from the store i'd have to get 16's because we already have two new sets of tires that work. i measured the tires and they turned out to be 29.5-30 in tall. if any one has reccomendations on the truck i would appretiate it. also does any one know the corrrect backspacing for a c-10 with drums all around.

Re: 1970 chevy stepside

Just me, but I think I would go with a set of 8" wide ralleys.
But, whenever I get some more work done to my '69 stepper, I will be getting larger wheels....so.....

Junk yard, e-bay, or in the parts forum (but you have to be a subscriber to buy/sell).
Best $25 you will ever spend.

Anyway, mid '80s 4X4s had them from the factory.
I have a set on my truck right now and it's a 2-wheel drive.

You need to subscribe to sell, not to buy.

If you want to post a wanted ad, then you also need to subscribe.

Re: 1970 chevy stepside

I prefer the 6 lug aluminium rims from the 99 and newer tahoes or suburbans which are pretty abundant in junk yard and can be had for around 200 bucks
Welcome to the wonderful world of trucks

Re: 1970 chevy stepside

Not sure if you like 'em or not, but you can buy brand new white spoke rims for $43 each right from a store. I'm getting mine from discount tire. The center caps are $6 each so for about $200 I'm going to have brand new rims. You can also get these real cheap at yards too, but then you run the risk of buying a bent rim like I did Only new stuff from now on

try craigs list.org, search on your town, or nearest metropolitan area, "chevy wheels". I'm amazed at what you can find on there for very reasonable prices.

Re: 1970 chevy stepside

Summit has the old-school 6-lug Ralleys in 15". (like ones 69 Camaros and Chevelles) for 50-60 bucks a piece, painted.

Welcome to the board. two years younger than you here. I'm assuming you have a 4x4?

no its only 2wd. my dad has had it ever sense i was born and i got it for my b-day. prolly the best sweet 16 ne one could ask for. i am now enstalling an oak bed and also am doin some minor things cause it's sat for bout 1 year. it has almost no rust other than the usuall and has a 350/350 combo.

Re: 1970 chevy stepside

so far what ive found on the new truck wheels fitting is the only ones that will fit are;
1. toyota, tacoma
2. chevy, colorado
3. cadalac, escalade.

there are some like the dodge d-10 but who wouldnt want those 12-inchers blingin all over town. lol

If you have new tires already, it may be cheaper in the short run to use them. Life is full of compromises. You want to enjoy the truck, not have it run your life. Just my thoughts.
