Cam Walk?
How do you tell if a cam is walking?

First, are you running a roller cam? Cam walk is a roller tappet problem.
Is your timing not staying put? Very erratic. How about your timing cover, is it damaged? Bowed? I'd also pull the distributor and check the gears for damage or abnormal wear. Your timing chain and gears would also show abnormal wear/damage from being pushed out of alignment. If you have a roller cam, you need a button or thrust plate to keep the cam in place. You shouldn't experiece such a problem with a flat tappet cam.
