Ridn bikes or Cruisn in tha Chevy?

I have been in pain over the thought of giving my 70 away for a sport bike....I have ALLWAYS wanted a sport bike since i was little, and have allways wanted to learn to ride...but is it worth giving my truck away for, since i cannot afford both at the age of 18- you tell me what you think...assuming you own a motorcycle- how much fun is riding your bike vs cruisin in ur chevy/gmc??

I have both. If you can only have one. Stick with the truck. The truck is much more usefull. Besides, you have the rest of your life to kill yourself on a streetbike.

Without the truck, what will you haul the bike in after to trash it in your first crash? One of the main reasons I have a truck is to haul my dirt bike and my mountain bike.

Re: Ridn bikes or Cruisn in tha Chevy?

I don`t know why killing yourself or ending up in a hospital always comes up like this.More people get injured or killed in cars every day.(I know, more cars)AND,waaay more head trauma in car accidents!Would it be ok if I wore a full-face helmet while driving a car?Or,would I get pulled over because My hearing and vision is impaired?
Best advise here, been said, one or the other?.....truck.Both?Doesn`t get any better.Whenever you do get a bike, don`t expect anyone to be looking out for you.Ride like no one cares if you die.You decide to ride a bike/decide to survive.

Re: Ridn bikes or Cruisn in tha Chevy?

I have both and enjoy them very much. Of course the truck is not finished enough to drive yet. Because you live in TX (warm) and you said you have always wanted a bike and to learn to ride, I suggest you scrape together a little money and find an older Magna or something cheap to learn on. Ride it for a few years to get some experience, then upgrade to something better. Do not get rid of the truck, you will regret it later.

I couldnt agree more! I love my truck and now because of my age I drive the truck much more than the bike, but I did have a whole lot of fun on bikes aspecially in my younger days, Gas is certainly far cheaper for a bike than a truck, but it really boils down to what you want to do..

Re: Ridn bikes or Cruisn in tha Chevy?

A bike is a toy/hobby/fun/fair weather vehicle, a truck is way more practical/useful.

Besides, they make sport bikes everyday but not old Chevy's.

Drive the truck and save up for a bike. IMO.

Re: Ridn bikes or Cruisn in tha Chevy?

If you want a bike, wait till you can afford one but keep the truck. In my openion, you will regret getting rid of your truck. Bikes are fun. I have had some nice ones but always had my truck. If it is one or the other-I would go for the truck evertime. Get the bike when you can afford it. You are only 18 as you said. Plenty of time. MO

I sold my bike to buy my truck. The bike got old; I kept finding excuses to ride it.

Re: Ridn bikes or Cruisn in tha Chevy?

I agree with what many of the others have said. I would keep the truck and buy an older sport bike thats cheap but still reliable and fun to ride. I am too wanting to get a bike or a quad, but for me my truck is my first priority. So I would just keep the truck and be a little paitient and wait to get a bike.

Keep the truck after all you can't pick up more than one chick at a time with a bike. LOL I've ridden bikes for over 40 years. So there.

Wow, get the bike. You'll just kill yourself in a truck anyway. HA

Get whatever makes you happy. When I was young, I'd never listen to what anyone said I should or shouldnt do. Myself, I choose my truck over a bike right now, but Ill definatly have another bike when the trucks done...corn

I've wrecked them both. The truck was a lot easier on me than the bike.

It`s good to wait until you`re settled into a place where you can keep a bike locked and dry inside, also.I didn`t.
