Ignition Switch Won't Kill Engine

Having following electrical issues after removing, resealing and reinstalling the engine:

1. Alternator will not charge.
2. Ignition switch will not kill the engine.

The ignition switch should not be the problem as I installed a new one today.

Can anyone recommend a process to determine the problem?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Ignition Switch Won't Kill Engine

Thanks rat, but I installed new switch because old switch would not kill engine. Unfortunately that did not correct the issue.

Thanks again.

Unplug the 2 wire connector on alt. and see if switch will kill engine. If so the 2 wires are reversed. (above advice does not carry a warrenty).

THIS IS CORRECT! My friends 72 was doing the same thing after he installed a new alternator and a new alternator plug. He had reversed his two plug wires by mistake and had the same problem. Switched them back, and all was gravy.

Re: Ignition Switch Won't Kill Engine

Thanks for the feedback. Chevy, black I'm sure your recommendations would work, but believe I will try option B first. Will try this weekend and keep you in the loop.

Thanks again.
