350HO deluxe or the "keyturn" crate??? will the GM compressor work or the keyturn setup interfere with a Vintage air system? the keyturn comes with extra stuff I will need. anyone have any ideas on this?

I would get the engine as assembled as possible, and avoid the cost and time of putting the rest of it together yourself. I'm not familiar with the GM compressor set up, but the Vitage air system will bolt up to any GM accessory threaded head.

If there are features you don't like on the turn-key version, do some math to find out how much more it will cost to change things out. Valve covers, distributor, etc.

Is the 350 rebuilt and assembled? Would you be doing it? The crate motors are nice. As you mentioned it is turn key.

P.S. have you thought about a big block?? lol

What are the prices? I called about a GM performance crate 350 last year and the price was around $1600 and it included everything but the intake (excluding all the front pullys, accessories, etc...)

Seems like I have seen Goodwrench 350's for less than $1400. Shipping is extra, of course. Check with your local GM dealer.

In Scoggins-Dickeys' catalog, a GM Reman 350 costs more, and has less warranty, than a NEW Goodwrench 350. So, be careful of what you order. Jasper has a 3-yr/75,000 mile warranty on their rebuilds, so you may want to check them out, too.

In the end, cubic inches always wins, but that's another story.

its called 350HO Deluxe and it is a new crate engine... its the 330 hp long block for about $3500 1yr warranty...

the turnkey is about $4300, same motor just with everything else, so I dont have to buy and install all the accessories.

I was told the water pump is installed backwards on the turnkey due to yada yada yada... just worried about the Vintage air working without any problems...

fyi, At work napa, we have many new performance crate motors, a really nice one is a 350 no water pump, carb or dizzy, 300 hp 400 ft lbs, dyno tested, proven, run live, for 2500 and no core. We have others that range from 2500 to 4500 and hp ratings from 300 to 450 out of a 350.

The best news on the first one for 2500 bucks, it runs on 87 octaine

thanks guys for the heads-up on the other options... I was actually considering saving a few thousand $$ on ebay, but am not sure if I will end up buying from gm in the long run... can these motors from the dotcomers be trusted?

It would run as good as the other two if your actually using the truck for work IMO

I could get up on my soap box and rattle my mouth off about what I'd put in it, but I've notice their isn't much of a fan club here for engines with other than a 8 cylinder gasser in a V-type arrangement.

I would just go with the deluxe engine, then buy a bracket system Alan Grove. You can buy hoses and what not to work with the GM accessory system. Classic Trucks did an article with an aftermarket A/C system with the same accessory system in a 68 about a year ago.
