hey, just thought i would see if anyone knew what the deal was... the drivers side door on my wires 87 GMC sometimes wont unlock.. from the outside with key or from inside by pulling on the door lock (manual locks). I can pull on the handle on the inside and try pulling the lock again and it usually works, though sometimes it has taken upto 10 times to finally get it. From the outside you have to push the button then turn the key... any ideas before i tear into it?

Can't really help you, but i have the same problem sometimes.

If I lock the door while inside, sometimes I will have to unroll the window and push the button outside to pull the lock up. And unlocking with the key I may have to push the button first, or else the key wont turn. Power locks by the way.

I haven't tried anything yet, but I think when I try I am gonna spray down the latch and any other linkage in the door. Good luck. Post if you find anything.

well i have figured out a bit more about this... it only jams up on me when i try to open the door before unlocking it, and to get it to undo i just push the outside button.. weird.. havent had time to tear into it further.

I have the same problem from time to time. I dunno why it does it but it acts just like what has been said here.

Yep my 84 GMC does the same thing most of the time on the drivers side. I believe it's just wear and tare over the years.

lube all the joints of the mechanism in the door and it will reduce the issue. But just lick Slop said, its just wear and tear.
