Re: how many of you found the original jack

I throw those things away. With that small base...they will kill you. Get the later type that is bigger and has the "J" shape that will go under the A-frames of a lowered truck or real low flat.

Re: how many of you found the original jack

I'm not sure if I have the original jack, what do they look like? The one that came with my truck is a telescoping crank type with a folding crank rod. Small square base and flat steel saddle shape top for lifting at the frame. The crank and tire tool were in a folded, tapered grey foam pouch thing.

I have the one from my truck, don't use it though. I keep a 4 ton bottle jack in the toolbox and a farm jack(hi-lift for y'all city guys) chained in the bed.

Mine sits behind the seat in the original burlap bag. It looks like it's never been used. I've never had it out.

All the pieces to mine were in the 70 when I bought it. It doesn't look like it had much use.

Re: how many of you found the original jack

Here's a pic of one that I lifted from ebay. The same jack was used from 55 or so until 72, only difference was the saddle on the top. Early ones didn't have the saddle, then the style in the pic here. At one time I had 3 of them, one from a 64, a 68 and a 69 burb. I used them a lot, usually on a piece of plywood. When these trucks were new bottle jacks were a lot of money and these jacks worked. They were far better than the Chevy bumper jack at the time. We had a couple of those fail.

Re: how many of you found the original jack

I am batting zero on all my trucks. I had to go get some out of old Vans and they work just as well. I Just don't know where they Originally mounted.
