Just Curious (AC Compressor question)

When I look up replacement compressors, there are 2 kinds. With and WO roof mounted AC? What is it talking about, is this for Burbs? I didnt think they ran vents to the back in the older burbs.

Re: Just Curious (AC Compressor question)

My '72 C10 Burb has a roof air unit with its own evaporator and fan. The roof air unit's hoses T off the main hoses to the dash unit. Roof air A/C systems do require more volume moved by the compressor, so a higher capacity compressor is required.
That's my meager understanding, anyway.

Re: Just Curious (AC Compressor question)

The factory assembly manual shows the rear air option for 67-72. Dad had a 69 with it.

Re: Just Curious (AC Compressor question)

1972 had in dash, like the trucks, and a rear unit.pre 72 had a rear unit that had a tunnel with vents the length of the roof.
