Conversion ? 700r4 trans or 350 turbo
I have a 1965 SWB w/ a 1968 283 stock motor .30 over small v8
The tuck is a 3 speed standard and would like to convert to automatic. 700r4 or 350 turbo The tuck still has the original 6 lug 3:73 gears. Living in Dallas TX I'm wanting to be able to cruse the HWY without HI RPM's. |

Re: Conversion ? 700r4 trans or 350 turbo
I am currently going through this process with my 62'. I currently have a 350/TH350 with a 10 bolt chevy rear. Am upgrading to a 71/72 12 Bolt 3.73 rear end and have a 92' 700R4 to be installed this summer to allow for the cruising capabilities.

Re: Conversion ? 700r4 trans or 350 turbo
For highway cruisin', you can't beat an overdrive and the 700R4 is a pretty simple install. Couple of things to keep in mind: 1. Run a separate tranny cooler, and 2. Properly adjust the TV cable. Failure to due either of these will greatly shorten the life of a 700R4. There is lots of info about these swaps on bowtieoverdrives.com. I'm not in any way affiliated with them, but they were the most helpful place I found when doing my swap.
Good Luck!

Bowtie's website is www.700r4.com . If you build one the right way, it will last a long time.
