Re: How to place a bowtie
I think the factory assembly manual has specs. Another way is to take a piece of paper & a pencil to a junkyard and do a "rubbing" of the front of a hood from a '69 or '70. Just pop off the emblem and run the pencil over the top. Make sure you get a marker like the center of the hood.

Bouncy truck I love the rubbing idea unfortunately here in Canada an old truck at a wrecking yard is 1995 and if I asked to see a 70 they would probably laugh at me while jabbing me with pointed sticks

Re: How to place a bowtie
Do you have a factory assembly manual? It shows dimensions for the holes. I'll try to explain if I can.
Looking at the hood - The hole on the left is 1.56" left of center and 1.84" from the bottom edge of the hood. The right hole is 1.56" right of center, putting the holes 3.12" apart. The right hole is 3.22" above the bottom edge of the hood and 1.38" above the first hole. I belive it says the holes are 1/64 dia., but it also has some other numbers there that I don't understand. Narrow edge of the emblem goes down.

Re: How to place a bowtie
Here you go,straight from the assembly manual.(jeez I hate that thing)
Not sure but I think the reproduction Bowtie's have off-set studs. Looks like the factory Bowtie's studs are straight across. At any rate...here's what the factory manual shows

Re: How to place a bowtie
I responded to this once already, sweet rig btw but I am curious about
the desire to have the bowtie on the hood, vehicle is obviously not stock?

Re: How to place a bowtie
Ah, I did put the GMC measurements. Thanks for the catch!
The repop bow tie I put on my '69 (picks of the emblem in this thread- http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=195577) had off-set studs and fit into the factory holes. I got it from The Truck Shop. I put a good coat of wax on it (front & back) before installing to help keep it nice looking.
