Re: 1979 to 1969 wire harness

get the wiring diagrams for both years.............
I was thinking of using the 87 harness from a truck I am stripping to retro fit the engine etc into my 67. The things that come to mind are the gauges on yours, I would use the dash gauge and light wiring harness and splice it into the 79 one. Use the sending units from the 69 and solder/splice the connectors to the 79 harnes if they are different.
Everything else should be around the same length and connectors. Solder/splice nicely and use heat strink tubing so you have clean connections and have at it.
Plus as I think, I am not sure about the size of the 79 fuse block but cut a hole to that size and bolt the fuse block to the firewall, make sure that you use some sort of sealer on the fuse block junction to keep out water and fumes

Re: 1979 to 1969 wire harness

Thank you qksilver-that is what I was looking for,a quick look says I will have to enlarge the hole for the block itself. My under dash wiring from the 69 is in good shape and I should be able to splice the two together-----beats $200 plus for a new harness from a aftermarket outfit-----I have heard some real horror stories about a couple of suppliers. I agree some time to replace money, plus unless it is a direct fit you have to splice and solder anyway

Re: 1979 to 1969 wire harness

On my 70 i used a 77 harness and it worked fine, i only used the one side of it though just for the engine wiring, i liked the fact that it had the 10gauge wire for the HEI power.
