I Think My Paint Might Be A Little Faded

I removed a repro fender I had on the passenger side and replaced it with a NOS fender today. The fit is waaaay better on the new fender. I painted the new fender blue. The only thing it matches is the paint in the interior and the overspray on the grass in my back yard.

Re: I Think My Paint Might Be A Little Faded

That`s a shame. Now you`ll have to paint the rest of the truck to match. You opened a whole new can of worms.Too bad you couldn`t find a used blue fender that had the exact same amount of fade. That`s what you get for taking the easy way out. That`ll learn ya.

I was about to say that, rub out the rest of the truck and it'll be a lot closer.

Yeah, I think I'll give that a try some weekend when I have absolutely nothing else to do. I'll bet my truck hasn't seen a bottle of wax in 20 years. If it turns out ok, I'll probably paint the bed sides and the driver side fender to match so my truck isn't such an eyesore. I've got three shades of blue on there right now, plus one black fender and a black tailgate. At least it doesn't have a red bed anymore.

Re: I Think My Paint Might Be A Little Faded

I spent a little time this evening polishing my hood with Turtle Wax Scratch & Swirl Remover. I think it made a huge difference, although the paint on the fender is a little too bright.

Re: I Think My Paint Might Be A Little Faded

I dont know if i did the right thing but i used some rubbing compound on my hood, because it was duller than the rest, used that then polished couple times then waxed a couple times and it looked like the rest.

Just always park with your passenger fender facing the sun. It too will fade someday.

My truck definitely falls into the "turd" category.

I have my fair share of rust. It's just hiding.
