Which lift kit for a decent ride?
I am going to put a lift kit on my 72 K10 and want one that will ride decent. I have used Rough Country before and thats just what it was ROUGH! I have heard of Soft Ride Suspension? Any recomendations? I am going with a 4" lift probably will use 4 new springs rather than blocks. Also any input on coated headers for this truck. Used Dynomax last time on a 2WD and they seemed OK. Thanks

Re: Which lift kit for a decent ride?
I have a Skyjacker 4" softride on my K10. I replaced all the springs and didn't use blocks. I don't think it rides to bad considering how aggressive my tires are. I have rode in some other guys rigs that would beat you to death but mine isn't that bad. I didn't install longer bumpstops, so sometimes big dips in the road can be a little bouncy. I would suggest finding someone with a lift like you want and hitching a ride to see what you think.

Re: Which lift kit for a decent ride?
I bought it a few years ago, but I think it came from National Tire and Wheel. If you call around most places will match price + X%. I think it was right at $1000-1100. But that was 4 springs, shocks, steering arm and braided stainless brake lines. Call everyone who carrys the kit and when they quote you a price ask if that's the best they can do. If you tell them you are ready to buy and are calling around, most places are willing to work on the price.

Re: Which lift kit for a decent ride?
ORD makes a shackle flip kit that yeilds a 4" lift or a 6" lift with their extra long HD shackles. It will retain your present ride quality if you have good springs now.

Re: Which lift kit for a decent ride?
Not quite what you are after but I'll toss it in anyway, just because too much info is better than not enough!
Several years back I replaced my sagging front springs (K20) with Skyjacker Softride 2 1/2" springs. Excellent quality, no squeaks, and a better-than-stock ride. fwiw....

Re: Which lift kit for a decent ride?
CG I like that truck! After checking around Skyjacker is almost twice the cost of others. I talked with a rep at National Tire and they sell both and he thought the Superlift kit was just as good as the Skyjacker at almost half the cost. 4 springs, shocks, steering drop arm and a stabalizer for a little over $600.00 plus $120.00 to ship. Sounds good to me, anybody have any experience with Superlift kits? Thanks

Re: Which lift kit for a decent ride?
I have had several lifted trucks with the soft ride springs front and rear. They road great, didn't bounce when empty and could handle a heavy load.I have used rough county and superlift when I bought lift kits, the soft rides came on the trucks i bought. The money saved.............there was, to me, a major difference but most of my driving at the time was in Wash DC and once or twice a month on the trails

Re: Which lift kit for a decent ride?
Out of all the manufactured kit springs Tuff Country has the lowest spring rate. If you want a good ride with a lift a 10-12 thin leaf pack will do the best. Deaver or National can supply those. Around 5 to 600 a pair.
