This looks better than I thought it would have.

Re: pic of newer dually bed on 72
This picture says it all right here.... Just because something bolts on doesn't mean it fits. Still be a kick ass work truck though.... I think 68GMCdually has the only "correct looking" dually truck I've ever seen, as GM never produced one with a "truck bed" on it for the 67-72 trucks.

Re: pic of newer dually bed on 72
sorry, still have yet to see one that doesn't look like crap. if both of the wheel well cutouts were round (front matching rear), i might like it, btut having rectangular cutout in the rear and round one up front is kinda lame looking.

Re: pic of newer dually bed on 72
Not only the wheel well opening, but the contour of the bed doesn't match the cab from top to bottom. And even though the bottom lines meet, they are totally different. No different to me than putting a F**d bed on one I don't know, to each their own, but it just doesn't work for me.......

Re: pic of newer dually bed on 72
Just out of curiosity, if the wheel well cutouts were round to match the front, what kind of shape would you guys prefer on the dually fender itself?
The one in the pic above is kind of squared off it looks like. What other "line" on the 67-72s would you use as a guide when forming the shape of the fender? |

It would be cool if someone made a glass "patch panel" that was the same size opening of the front wheel well and had the same lip that so that the fender on the dually or a step bed (a steel one for a fleetide) could be cut and have the patch panel grafted in place. Then the next patch panels that need made are ones that can replace the body lines. But for all that work, just as well buy the parts to build a new bed.

Re: pic of newer dually bed on 72
Oops! Sorry, there are not. For that, I was thinking of another thread on newer beds on our trucks, but fleetsides, not duallys.

Re: pic of newer dually bed on 72
Has anyone ever taken stepside fenders, added material along the bed side of them and then shaped them to the contours of a fleetside longbed? Seems like that would be the way to go.

Man that red one is a great looking truck! Makes me want to make one that is like that, but a crew cab. (Since they never made those either.)
