Will GMC Front Bumper fit Chevy

Just a quick question. I picked up a 72 front GMC bumper thinking it would be the same as my 70 chevy bumper. Are they the same?

Thanks

Re: Will GMC Front Bumper fit Chevy

The only diff I know of is a GMC bumper has indents to clear the turn indicators. A GMC bumper will work better on a Chevy, than a Chevy on a GMC.

GMC would also be better simply because it is a GMC. It's a proven fact.

It'll look goofy.

IMO, joe has that backwards. I had a GMC bumper on a chevy grill, and the indentations look stupid.

I have a chevy bumper on a GMC grill right now, and no one has yet to point it out.... as a matter of fact, 67 GMC trucks came this way, same p/n as a chevy bumper.

Just kidding

I have an uncle that has been a 67-72 guy longer than I have been alive, and I had to point out the difference of the bumpers to him. Point being a lot of peope don't realize they are different.

Re: Will GMC Front Bumper fit Chevy

my 68 must have been a 67 carryover. it has a chevy from day 1. that should change in the near future, I found a new chrome one along with a pair of GMC grilles. all I gotta do is tweak and tune his 72 and they are mine

Re: Will GMC Front Bumper fit Chevy

The other thing that noone has mentioned is that on a chevy 67-70 bumpers don't have cutouts for the turnsignals in them because they are in the grill for those year trucks. A 71-72 bumper will have the turn signals in the bumper, so you'll have a double set of turnsignals. I think GMC bumpers follow the same idea, or do they?

Re: Will GMC Front Bumper fit Chevy

Maybe it was 67 and 68 GMC's with the chevy bumper.
Here's a pic Io took a few years ago of my old rig, it's the only one that shows the cut outs 1/2 decent.
Yes, it is a 1/2 pic mirrored, I was playing around and thought the grill looked kinda cool like that, so I saved it...but ditched the original.
