Roll Bar Positioning w/pics
I mentioned on a previous thread that I was curious about my rollbar. I wasn't sure if it was stock or if it is positioned properly. It appears to sit back too far. I also don't remember my 70' having a 2 piece rollbar like this one is. But I checked the floor (messy) and no other holes have been drilled. It appears that this part is mounted properly.
Does this mean that the bar sits back as far as it should (stock)? My interior has yet to be tackled. Pretty dried and cracked. But I have plans. Fatmat and and a nice carpet kit will do wonders. Notice the stock orange paint where as the outside of the blazer is brown. Lazy painter!

Re: Roll Bar Positioning w/pics
It could be your blazer didnt come new w/ roll bar and that's aftermarket and was installed that way (the reason why those are the only holes). I don't believe it's stock.

Re: Roll Bar Positioning w/pics
That doesn't look like the stock roll bar to me either. The smitty's were bolted together like that but they bolted up much higher and the rear legs went to the floor behind the wheel tub.
That one looks like it is positioned further back than most. From what I've seen, they are usually mounted about 6" back from the front edge of the bed.

Re: Roll Bar Positioning w/pics
Stock location will not accomodate a Half top. Would have to be moved if you had one.

Re: Roll Bar Positioning w/pics
I have never seen a stock roll cage. The only pictured above must have been the only one ever made.
Geez Dan. That's awesome. Where did you get that? I am particularly fond of the line, "The family bar is a must for the family where people ride in the back seat." Um... if it was a must, shouldn't a family bar been installed in every Blazer with a back seat? What did they think you were going to put in the back seat, blow up dolls? I guess I have a "friend bar". If they're not family riding in the back, then who cares?
