Custom Camper emblems on Longhorn?

I know that the GMC version of the Longhorn was just called a Custom Camper, and didn't have the Longhorn emblem. My question is my Chevrolet Longhorn is a Custom Camper and has the emblems on it, is this correct? Or should it just have the Longhorn emblem and not the custom camper?

Re: Custom Camper emblems on Longhorn?

I thought that they had both of them, is what is the option code on the glove box sticker?

You have a Longhorn, with the custom camper option package which includes HD front springs, overloads on the back, HD shocks, HD tires, and a front sway bar.

Re: Custom Camper emblems on Longhorn?

I know that I have a Longhorn with the custom camper option, but is the custom camper emblem supposed to be above the door handle? For some reason I was thinking the Custom Camper emblem shouldn't be on the truck at all.

Re: Custom Camper emblems on Longhorn?

If you have CustomCamper/20 emblems on your front fenders then you won`t have the script on the doors. If your truck is a CustomDeluxe,Cheyenne,or Super,it will have the script on the doors.

Re: Custom Camper emblems on Longhorn?

Except in 69, the custom camper nameplate did trump the CST badge on the fender.

67/68 was kinda funny, but he was asking aobut longhorns anyways, which would still be badged like that if it was a 68 chevy longhorn Custom Camper and CST.

Re: Custom Camper emblems on Longhorn?

Don't know the year of your truck but my '68 Longhorn has the Custom Camper emblems on the middle rear of the front fender...seen below and the CST on the door below the window.

Re: Custom Camper emblems on Longhorn?

Barepaint. I have been trying to find those and it took me a year to locate two of them. Mine are really pitted badly so I had to find two new ones. I am going to try to get them rechromed. If I do I will let the old ones go...LOL! For now I am "stllookn"...LOL!

CST is the standard yellow and chrome.

Re: Custom Camper emblems on Longhorn?

Found this on another website:

The “Longhorn” 133” wheelbase pickup was available during 1968-72 and came in both 3/4 and 1 ton models. All had leaf-type rear suspension. Chevrolets are given a chrome die cast “Longhorn” emblem near the bedside marker light. GMC’s display a “Custom Camper” chrome emblem on each door. To save production costs, GM used the chassis from their current 1 ton stepside pickup. Its 133” wheelbase made it a natural for this longer fleetside bed. Prior to the Longhorn, GM had not placed a fleetside on their 133” wheel base pickup chassis.
