window motor replacement

Hello all. I think I have figured out why my drivers side window will not go down. I put an electrical tester on the plug that plugs into the motor. I have current there when i hit the switch. I have purchased a new motor and would like to replace it tommorrow. What i have read so far seems to indicate that i have to remove the entire assembly to replace that motor. Is this true and if not what is the easiest way.

I have no experience with respect to removing the whole assembly. I have just removed and replaced the motor with the assembly in place in the door and it was very easy. As you can see from the other person who posted pictures for you, the motor is only held on with three bolts and they can be reached through the door for removal. My choice would be to leave it in the door and just take out the motor.

Re: window motor replacement

I tried that but the bolts to remove the motor are between the back of the regulater and the inside door sheet metal. I can not even fit my fingers in the space to get to the third bolt. I do not understand why they did not create an access panel right there to reach the bolts.
