1972 GMC Sierra 1500 - Leaf Spring Rear?
Guys:
I'm looking at buying a 1972 GMC Sierra Grande 1500. The odd thing to me is that the rear end is leaf springs..? The rear axle looks like a dana rear and it definitely has leaf springs...was that an option on a half ton? Should I be concerned? Also, where could I go to decode the VIN quickly? Thanks. |

Welcome to the board from West Tennessee. Most GMC trucks in those days were leaf spring. You could get them with coil by ordering I think. Chevy on the other hand had coil as standard and you could order leaf. Just make your self at home and ask all the questions you need to to make a good decision on buying a truck. Hope you enjoy your stay.

You'll have a hard tome getting an online GMC VIN decoder, they did it in quite a few ways bac then. You can post it (and even leave out the last few if you are worried about that stuff) and there's a few on here that can decode it for you.
