Help please SBC swp pulley set up

I intend on first running a manual steering box on my 72 2wd sbc swp with no AC or AIR. Then when more money makes its way in to my pocket I want to got with power steering. Does any one have a picture of both of these pulley set ups and a description of what pulleys are needed and can be used from the first setup to the next? I thought i read that the power steering pump is just an add on to the crank pulley. Is that correct?

Your best bet is to get them all off of one truck/vehicle, or a couple that are set up the EXACT same way. Once you start mixing and matching, things get real stupid real fast.
If possable, i would get all the stuff you WILL need, and then add it as needed.

Re: SBC swp pulley set up

This is a keyway pump from an older Impala. The top outside bracket is home made but works ok. Pretty simple actually.

Please excuse the black wire looms, lots of work to do under there in the next weeks or so.

Re: SBC swp pulley set up

So a two grove crank pulley for a short pump and and single grove pump pulley and i should be good to go? I have the alt bracket for the driver side.
One more question when you look at like jegs or summit is the only difference in crank pullies the short and long pump and the number of grooves?
Thanks
Tim

Re: SBC swp pulley set up

Basically yes. Long or short pump and how many groves do ya want. There are two kinds of powers steering pumps. A pressed on pulley and a keyway pulley. You really need an old pump with the brackets on it. I'm thinking there are 3. Two brackets for the alt.
