Engine code for 67 c-30
I have a 67 c-30 that looks to have the original engine. Can someone tell me if CEB121653 would be the right code for this truck.

Re: Engine code for 67 c-30
Where did that number come from?
In front of the passenger side head on the engine block there should be a number (letter prefix and suffix as well). If you get that number, you can find out what engine is and what it went into from the factory. |

That # came from the pad on the front of the engine. Thanks

Re: Engine code for 67 c-30
Is there another number? That one looks like a partial vin number.
Checkout www.nastyz28.com as they have a good section for decoding numbers.... I can't find a number starting with CEB (B is not listed) but if it is a CE block that would make it a 305..... check out the "Number Decoding" link on that page.... |

Re: Engine code for 67 c-30
I looked again this afternoon and the CEB121653 is all that is on the front pad. The casting # is 3959532 but I can't see the date code. I looked in my Moretech papers and couldn't find this casting #.

Re: Engine code for 67 c-30
CE stands for either Chevrolet Engine or Crate Engine. That means it was a replacement for a motor that went bad under warrenty.
And yeah, 3959532 is a 283. According to www.mortec.com: 3959532 - 283ci - 1964 - Used for some "CE" replacement blocks
