which would be easier?
replacing the head gaskets in my 87 jimmy, 2.8 v6, 5 speed. or taking out the whole engine and putting in another then having the old one to look at/rebuild?
Please keep in mind, i have a bad back and limited access to helpers with an engine hoist. also, any other engine that would be a direct swap with this 5 speed tranny? |

If you took it to a shop with a blown head gasket, they'd just change the head gasket with the engine in the truck, but if you have access to another engine, the swap can be managed in a weekend. Helpful, aren't I?

Making it more confusing.... are you 100% sure it is a head gasket.... 2.8 are notorius for leaking coolant into the oil from the intake manifold. Done a compression check??
