I'll be driving my truck for about a mile or two and then i'll start smelling gas. Its real faint but i can still smell it. Is this normal?

Well I wouldnt exactly say it is normal but it is common on these type of trucks. Usually the cap does not totally seal properly and lets vapor out which then lets you smell it in the cab.

had the same problem and it turned out to be a cracked hose behind the seat that connected 2 pieces of hardline for the tank...have a look.

Thanks guys come to think about it i was looking at the gas cap the other day while filling up and the seal is in pretty bad shape. I bet that's why. I'll take a look at the hose though just to make sure.

HAHA
