Re: Hood to Cowl Seal ?

Looks like it to me, but if that is an aftermarket part, don't buy it, they have a hard "L" shape that won't fold under the hood unless you cut it off so it doesn't fold anymare.

GM still makes them, I have a new one here in my hands, it has a "<" shape to it and much softer, GM part number 06270848 - I paid about $ 15.00 IIRC.

Re: Hood to Cowl Seal ?

No problem, about 10 years ago, before the full frame off redo in 2005, I did a basic fix and repaint on the 68. We replaced the cowl seal among many things, and either couldn't rememer how it went, but I think it was because it wouldn't fit like I thought it should, we ended up putting it on upside down with the lip facing down over the firewall , guess I thought that must be how it went. Well it stayed that way until last year, and I never gave it a second thought, but then being 10 years smarter, I was like WTF did I do that for !!! but now I know it was because that damn seal was so hard it would not fit. Guess it didn't do a heck of a lot of good installed that way except to keep the cowl spaced right from the firewall !!!
