1993 GMC P/U Starter problem

Question....

I have a 1993 p/u with the 5.7 350, auto, 4wd. The other day in just as the engine was starting to truner the, the starter stopped cranking. Power is fine everywhere else on the truck. I found that if I stuck a small wrench up to the solenoid I could engage the starter and start the truck.

I did replace the solenoid on the advice of a couple people.... no change whatsoever. I also unplugged the safety switch for the shifter and jumped it with no success.

Can someone offer me some assistance with this problem. I am really in a bind not being able to use the truck

Thanks!

Bryan
