Having hard time to take rear seal off
It's me again with my brake story!. How do you take this thing off? There is no place to take hammer and push it out. They told me before snip it but how? just cut it? Sorry to be so amateur.

Re: Having hard time to take rear seal off
yes, I am sorry I should have been more specific. The seal in the rear hub which prevent the rear diif fluid to get to rear brakes. I don't know what exactly it's name is.

Re: Having hard time to take rear seal off
I'm still not completely sure of what you're trying to do, but it sounds like you're trying to get an axle seal out from the end of the axle (behind a tire). It should come out with a small screwdrive CAREFULLY. get in behind the edge, and pry it out a little at a time working your way around the seal.

Re: Having hard time to take rear seal off
You will have to pull the axles first,

Re: Having hard time to take rear seal off
Ok, I think we are talking about the same thing. Again, sorry to be so lame. After you take the tire off and remove 8 bolts and take the shaft out, you pull the hub off of the brake assembly, In this assembly from outside to inside we have two bearing and a seal behind the second bearing. I am talking about this seal. It is seated very firmly I try to use screw driver it didn't work althought I didn't use too uch force fearing I am gona damage the edges. I thought there might be some kind of puller or something for this purpose.

Re: Having hard time to take rear seal off
Your doing a 3/4 ton, just pry the seal out or take a piece of broom handle stick down through the hub and hit it with a hammer it is just pressed in.

Re: Having hard time to take rear seal off
stick the end of the axle in the housing and "pop" it out with the end of the axle. Buy new ones, they are not worth saving.

Re: Having hard time to take rear seal off
Push the lower bearing and seal in the direction of the brake surface. Note when putting back, that the flat side of the seal faces out
