Interior restoration questions - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I started taking apart my 70 K5 took the top off and the home maid rear side panels getting it ready to start sanding and getting ready to paint. I am changing the body color from burgundy to a metallic bronze so I will be totally stripping the inside interior out to paint match.

My questions are does anyone make replacement seat cover kits for Blazers? I have looked at my LMC and Manes Truck Parts catalog and have only found replacement seat covers for different bucket seats. My front buckets are the wide low back ones with the steel back plates. The upgraded front buckets looks like they taper towards the top compared to mine that are more squared at the top. Are these seat covers the same? My next question is what did the basic K5’s have for side panels or where they just bare metal? The PO had particle board covered with carpet and fiberglass insulation behind them and it was wet and starting to rust the floor good thing I am doing this now.

As you suspected the seat covers are different for the Utility buckets that you have. As far as I have been able to find they are not reproduced. You may be able to get a local shop to recover them for you though.
If the Blazer didn't have the side panels they were just the bare metal. A tell-tale sign is the three brackets on each side that would hold the stock panels, of course someone could have added or removed the brackets over the years.

Like 71swb4x4 said, no company reproduces the utility bucket seat covers. You will have to get them made to fit. It sounds with your bucket seats you have, that it was just a basic model blazer. That means that it probably didn't have a backseat nor the side panels. Hope this helps. Trevor

Thanks guys I will probably just make some side panels out of plywood then cover them with something but I won’t worry about that now. It is just a basic Blazer but it has a back seat, don’t know for sure if it had it new and it was added later. Being basic is sort of cool because the interior won’t cost so much to redo. I already the seats are going to cost the most to have redone.

I did the same thing with the side panels. Think plywood, covered with thin foam and then vinyl.
