Don't remember ever seening a hood ornament but my '68 Longhorn seems to have a place for one. Anybody ever see one or have pics of one or did somebody make perfect holes in the hood ??????

I believe that was for the ultra-rare hood-mounted tow hook... hehe

When I bought my '71 in 1991, it had 3 holes where there had evidently been a hood ornament of some kind. They got filled before any other body work was done.

No really, I have the same holes in mine, I was wondering how the heck the chevy emblem was going to mount up there. But the MACK dog sounds like a fine substitute. BRUTE POWER. Plain and simple.

When I was younger, I had an ornament made from tubing and a valve stem cover with a pin hole in it hooked up to my washer motor so I could squirt people in the crosswalk. I wouldn't try it now, though-- might get shot.

I've seen a lot of '73-'80 Silverados that had that factory square hood ornament. I thought they were cool. The hood on my '71 has the holes where someone had some sort of ornament on there. They were filled when I bought it, but I have two little Bondo stalactites hanging down under my hood.

My hood has 5 holes in it. 4 are from a bolt on bug visor and the middle one is from a topless angel hood ornament. The previous owner installed these classy aftermarket options, and I had them removed before I bought the 72.
