Question Help me "steer" in the correct direction.

I am about to order a flaming river column along with all the accessories to
connect to the manual steering box. Flaming river tech support told me that I had either a 30 spline or 36 spline box stock on my truck. I come home from work and count the splines and come up with 25 splines which excludes the flat spot on the steering box shaft. So do you guys think I should order the universal joint with 30 splines? I know this is the factory steering box.

Thanks for your replies.

Kinda confused here......I think the 30 or 35 spline referrs to the end shaft from the steering column to the down shaft. Isn't there a rag joint that connects that shaft to the box?

Yes you are right about the rag joint, so should I count the splines on the rag joint instead of the steering box itself?

Yup, count the rag joint splines. I think the end splines on the shaft to the joint are all a standard count. FR should be able to match up the right kit for ya.

You may want to PM greasemonkey. He did swapped out his column as well as replacing the rag and intermediate shaft at the same time. He says it is a tremedous improvement over the rag joint.
