LED Tail Lights
Anybody have a set of the LED tail lights? Are you happy with the looks and results? Do you have to use the clear lens or will the stock Red one work? Where is the best/cheapest place to get them; Early Classic, etc. Thanks for any comments.

Re: LED Tail Lights
I have a set based on the newer Cadillacs that were custom made by a former board member for my fleetside. With 640 individual bulbs they look great behind red or clear lenses! I'm about to add 60 more with a Line of Fire light strip. I guess 700 bulbs should be enough, lol.

Re: LED Tail Lights
unless they have fixed them he has quit selling them because there are too many problems with them, he was after them to get them fixed but not sure if that happened or not.

Re: LED Tail Lights
you can get another brand from jegs.... 60 bucks I think.
That's cheap enough that my home made conversion was a waste of time. |

Re: LED Tail Lights
Just found them: Jegs part # 889-6019. Its weird but when you go to the Technostaligia web site they do not show as having them but Jegs shows the application with the part number. They seem to have a different design with fewer LED's but a wider light pattern. Wonder if anybody has tried these? Darn, I just ordered from JEGS yesterday!!

Re: LED Tail Lights
I talked with a tech guy from Early Classic and there LED lights are red so if you had the clear lens you would still have red brake lights. Also thier is a board with 160 bulbs. Plus if I remember right he told me they are coming out with the front turn singals also.

Re: LED Tail Lights
Those are the ones I have.
There bright enough so I didn't get harassed by cops even with my clear tail lights.

Re: LED Tail Lights
Actually I've got some 1157 LED's in my Caprice wagon. These specific ones act just like regular bulbs (have some LEDs pointing back to light up the reflectors) when you're standing near them. From a great distance, it actually looks like I have circular taillights. I love them. What it comes down to is what type of 1157 you buy. I may be able to snap some pics for you if you're interested.
Take a look at www.surplusled.com for stock replacement LED's. They've got tons of different types there. I've converted most of the bulbs on my Caprice to LED's through them. They're cheap, but shipping is kind of pricey. Gets to you in about 3 days, though.
