'71 C10 4x4 pickup: What transfer case do I have?
Hi,
I have a stock '71 C10 4x4 pickup with a turbo 350 transmission. Does anyone know what transfer case was used for this model? I'm trying to identify mine. Thanks, Mike |

Can you take a picture of it? That question can be answered with a good pic.

There were two used in your truck a Dana 20 and a NP 205. The Dana was used in most 6cyl and 307 V8 equipped trucks and the NP was the heavier duty one used with the 350 V8. One way I can tell right off is by looking at the gearshift the Dana is perfectly straight and the NP one is bent back at the upper 3rd.

I just replaced the engine with a brand-new new Targetmaster 350. The transmission is leaking really bad, and the transfer case won't shift properly (it takes me forever to get it into gear). I'd like to replace them both with freshly rebuilt ones. I'm in the Portland, Oregon area, and I'll consider any "hot tips" on where to go with this. I'm reasonably mechanically inclined (meaning I might be able to remove and reinstall a rebuilt one), but I would prefer to have someone else do the work. |

My bad I typed 203 but meant 205 the 203 is chain driven. And I have seen 20's in trucks so it wasn't just a Blazer thing
