How do I get this lower
I need some help and input. This is my 71 Cheyenne Short box. I have bagged the front and rear. I also have 2.5" drop spindles on the front. This a coil spring truck with the trailing arms. I put a set of new snubbers in just incase I lose a bag. This way I can drive it on to a trailer. The rear end is sitting very close to the underneath of the bed.. The front tires sit to close the inner fender wells. I want to go lower but do not want to cut up the truck. Any ideas???? If I have someone Z the frame do I have to lose the inner fenders and cut the bed???
Thanks |

Do you have a C-notch?

Re: How do I get this lower
This is more of a question than to answer you.... but do you think you would get any lower with the tubulars like these?

Re: How do I get this lower
There is only so low you can go with the inner fenders in. I had a bagged '72 with a notch and 2'' blocks and my diff was touching the bottom of the bed floor. It only sat a little lower than yours. Your truck is just too nice to cut up for the sake of another 1-2 inches.

Re: How do I get this lower
Beautiful truck!
I am sad to tell ya no matter how much work you do and how much money you spend you can only get as low as the body lets you go. Have you thought about having some one make you custom inner fenders that allow your tires to come up more with out looking bad? Have you seen the yellow 60's burb on the forum that have notched the inner fenders to lay out on 20's? I know the fenders are different but the same idea applies. As for the back maybe you would raise your bed floor a few inches as to keep the super smooth look. I will say it probably isnt worth it after what you have into it. Sometimes you have to just say, "I will build the next project different." Keith |

Re: How do I get this lower
for the front you can bolt in a new crossmember like this one
http://www.fatmanfab.com/06page7.htm it cost a good amount, but it should save a lot of trouble of trying to section the stock stuff, and its all bolt in

Re: How do I get this lower
Contact slammed67 on mod'd inner fenders-- he took stock ones and sectioned them up to get more clearance. On the rear, you could raise the entire bed floor. Done well, few would notice.
