i got a 1970 GMC 1/2ton SWB 4x4 w/ 292,3 on the tree i don't have anyway of posting pics, so i'll describe.

transfercase #

A1N
Rearend 12 bolt the #'s are upside down and are on the passenger side.

plaese help i've had the same thing posted in drivtrain but no one could help.

my hayes book donesn't say anything and the aoutparts stores just scratch their heads.

Only ever had one 4x4 with a 3 speed. Is the trans a Muncie or a saginaw? Transfer case could be a New Process or a Rockwell, probably a New Process.

Or a Dana Model 20.I don`t know if they were used before`71.But,that`s what goes behind 3spds in lighter applications.This would be the same t-case used in some Jeeps & Scouts.It`s noticeable smaller than the Rockwell & NP205.

The transfer case is probably the Dana 20. The GM parts book lists the NP205 as NP98981, and the part # is 3974294.
