1975+ 292 inline 6 pulley spacing?

Hi guys,

Does anyone have a 292 inline 6 from 1975 or later?

I have a 292 from 1967, and am looking at replacing the harmonic balancer. I have found a source for aftermarket balancers, but they are listed as being for the 292 from 1975 through 1989. I imagine the only difference will be the pulley spacing, so if any of you can snap a quick photo of your '75-'89 balancer, I can figure out if I can use it or not.

thanks!

Re: 1975+ 292 inline 6 pulley spacing?

The straight six from the 67-72 acessories mounted on the block and head. On the later integrated head models the mounts were a bit dofferent. There is a bit more of a space (gap) between the first and second pulley grooves. The later models had about a 1/4-1/2" gap between the pulle grooves, while the earlier (non integrated head) engines, the goves had no gap of=r basically butted against each other. Hard to explain, easy to see if you have both harmonic dampers. I don't have mine anymore, so I can't show you any pictures. Made me made, cuz I wanted to drop my good 250 into the 82, but found all kinds of headaches unless I changed the heads with it. to get all the appropriate accessory mounting alignment

Thanks Palf, I am thinking I may need to just get my existing balancer rebuilt.

I'm pretty sure you can still get them from the dealer.
