Can anyone help identify this front end? Someone told me they appear to be from a 73-87 C10. Right now it is on a 64C10 I bought from an estate. Any ideas? I want to put on drop spindles and springs but want to validate the donor first.....

So if I order drop spindle for a 73 will they fit or do I have to worry about wheither or not there is something different between the 73 and a 86???

You will need to check the thickness of the rotor. If it's 1" thick it standard, if it's 1.25" thick it's and HD. They use a different spindle...

73-87 C10 drop components interchange between all years, only difference is the rotor thickness, as Ken mentioned.

Are you going with 2 1/2" or 3" spindles?

It's gonna look good if you can reach your goal. Your plan sounds good, but I didn't see where you were gonna drop the front. Sound like scope creep to me.

BTW, when does 'annoying the neighbors' start.

What da ya suggest? Are drop spindles from one vendor the same as another?

People have run into clearance issues when using 3" spindles and 15" wheels. I am not sure about your W&T setup, but it is something to consider if running 15" wheels.

If I could do it over again, I would have gone with a 2.5 spindle and 2" spring.

It depends how low you're trying to get at ride height. For the extra 1/2" drop with 3" spindles, you're gonna run into clearance issues between the LCA and 15" wheels as Jeff mentioned. But, many just trim the gutter lip of the LCA to solve the problem. Others run a larger wheel, so clearance should no longer be an issue. (Although Scoti mentioned in a previous post that he's running 18x8s in front and had to trim the LCA.) I haven't heard of anyone running into this problem with the 2 1/2" drop spindles.

DMJ, Western Chasssis and Bell Tech all make decent drop spindles with pretty much the same specs.

I think I measured wrong...it looks now like its 1.5". The pads were an exact match for a 73C10 pads at Autozone. Also now that I measure it I wonder if its already got lower springs. They only have 10" of travel...is that right???

Boy, that is a wide rotor. With a 5 on 5 pattern, I'm not sure where those rotors came from. Maybe you could have the autoparts store do a reverse lookup on the number stamped on the rotor cap.?
