Crate Engines

I recieved my new Jegs catalog and I noticed that they now offer Blueprint Crate Engines. These crate engines offer more torque and horsepower than some of the GM crate engines, but I'm thinking they could be quality rebuilds. I really like the prices and could possibly in the future look to purchase one of these bullets. Here are the links. What do you guys think?

Re: Crate Engines

the most important thing in lookin at for these trucks are what are you wanting to do in these trucks.

If its a dd that you want to add some pep to, then look for more low end torque. IF you have to wind the motor out to reach the power you are not goin to like it or the gas bill

Re: Crate Engines

I really like the 383's, but as Dougs69c10 said, how you plan to use truck is very important. Need to look at trans, gear ratio's, tires, rpm range, where you want the powerband, etc.

My truck is 4.10 gears, 4 speed manual with 265 on 16 rims. I like grunt down low, so I opted for the base level 350 crate from GM. Would have gone up to the HT383 if $$$ allowed (and wife was okay with that...but didn't want to drop $4k in engine right now).
