BB Cam Suggestions

I'm getting my 402 rebuilt and would like some suggestions on a cam. The truck weighs 5000 lbs and I tow about 6000 lbs a couple times a year. When I do tow its for 1000 to 1500 miles. The engine will be stock except for Hei and a high rise cast iron intake and bored 30 over. The rest is a 700R4, 3:73, duel exhaust with stock manifolds and 31 inch tires. So what kind of experience have you guys had and what did you like and not like. Thanks for any input. Gary

Re: BB Cam Suggestions

I would go for a low end mild RV cam. That is what is in my truck I also have a 402 bored 40 over the only thing different about my setup is I have a 400th transmission. I'm not sure about the overdrive transmission.

I also have a Crane Energizer Cam w/ lifters in my shop. It was in my truck for 18,000 miles. It os a little hotter than the one I have and I have no use for it

Re: BB Cam Suggestions

If the budget allows, I think your class IV towing needs warrant going with a retro-fit roller cam & lifters. More power with a flatter torque curve for no compromise power from idle to 5k. No 20 min. break-in either. Maybe better mileage.

I like some Voodoo cam offerings in both flat tappet & roller, but have yet to use one, so I can't recommend. Soon, though.
