customatic A/C by clardy mfg
i recently bought a 68 gmc it has everything even an old aftermarket a/c which does not work. does anybody know anything about these. did anybody take them over they look alot like other after market a/c. mine dosnt work cause its missin the a/c pump. Also the hoses that were conected to the pump were left to the air, so the systim has not been sealed for a while.. the fuses have not been hooked up either.. can it be fixed. i thought i would fill the lines with break cleaner and blow them out with compressed air.. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks andrew

You can buy a A/C flush at most parts houses. Dont try to use the old dryer it will be contaminated. I guess you will need to hook everything up and pull vacuum on the system to see if it will work. Then charge and hope the valves and such work.

There used to be a company in or near Dallas called Vintage Air I don't know if they still exist.

Re: customatic A/C by clardy mfg
The dryer looks like a round cylinder which mounts on the front rad support by the condenser. The pressure from the comp enters there and then goes through the condenser to the system. If you still have the brackets you can get a rebuilt A-6 compressor (orig type) or you can buy brackets and aftermarket comp from OLD AIR or VINTAGE AIR. It would probably pay to have someone knowledgable about A/C to look at it before spending any money. These new after market systems work pretty good for about $1000 Good luck
