Re: Rear Bumpers

i think a google search is in order for you. LMC, Paddock, YearOne, eBay, umm, there has to be more, but I cannot think of them now. That should give you a good start.

Re: Rear Bumpers

Most repro rear bumpers are made by Tri-plus and are good quality. But do yourself a favor and don't get the repro license plate bracket, they don' fit right IMHO. Get a bracket from your GM dealer, much nicer piece, you would have to see them side by side to see the difference, or order one of each and return the one you don't want to see for yourself. Either bracket will have to be worked some to get it to fit right, might have to tweak the mounting ears on the bumper some too. If you just bolt it in the bumper will be pulled too tight on the bottom, and bumper will hump up in the middle. Look closely at at most pictures of those installed and you will see what I mean.

After installing the licence plate bracket you may still need to lay the top middle on a sawhorse and with a person on each end push down untill it stays straight.

Also watch those bumper brackets, they will likely have malformed humps where they touch the bumper on the back. They will have to be flattened out where they meet the bumper or you will put dents in the bumper when you tighten the bolts. Also get 4 stainless steel bolts to mount the licence plate bracket, they won't get ugly later and be sure to paint all the brackets before installing. Use grade 5 or better bolts to attach to the frame, not the cheap ones.

I found out all of this the hard way, thought it would be a simple bolt on 1 hour project, but after returning a license bracket, getting a GM one and tweaking everything to fit right, it takes much longer. Just a heads up, now that I know, I hope I can save you some problems.
