Re: Exhaust Kits on 4wd Blazer??

I have used a Hooker exhaust kit for a 69-72 Blazer on my K1500 and it worked out nice only $135 plus your choice of mufflers so what ever your mufflers cost you add that the total cost. I went with some Dynomax Super turbos on my Truck. I just recently ordered the same exhaust kit for my Blazer along with some magnaflow 3 chamber XL turbo mufflers. Summit part numbers are

HOK-16527HKR $135.88 Header back system
HOK-16621HKR $159.88 Manifold back system

The kits are complete the only thing I would recommend is to clearcoat the pipes with hi temp paint becasue they surface rust fast. That don't bother me at all I just cleaned the surface rust off and clearcoated the tailpipes with hi temp 500* clear coat and they look just fine.

Re: Exhaust Kits on 4wd Blazer??

I bought the Hooker header back system for my Blazer last summer and it didn't even come close to fitting. I called the tech guys at Hooker about it and they were useless. All he could tell me was that the pipes from the headers were supposed to outside the frame rails. That worked for the drivers side, but the passenger side pointed towards the ground. So, I just cut them up and welded them back together so they'd fit. I'd be interested in hearing your opinions Jason.

Re: Exhaust Kits on 4wd Blazer??

Really... That is strange becasue I didn't have any problems with my truck other than the collectors flange was too small for my headers so I had to use the old collector flanges. But as far as I could tell the kit routed the pipes through the crossmember not outside of it. Now I will not tollerate pipes outside if my crossmember. I will be installing it in my Blazer soon so I will post back on how it worked out for me.

Re: Exhaust Kits on 4wd Blazer??

Mine is all custom, but the Magnaflow kit is less than what I paid,
I have SS Mufflers only, and that kit has averything Mandrel bent,
I have Hedman Elite headers w/ the ball flanges, they're BAD ASS

Re: Exhaust Kits on 4wd Blazer??

Jason--how was the Blazer exhaust kit shipped, UPS, Fed Ex, USPS? Did you encounter any problems with the Blazer exhaust? Are you running headers or stock manifolds? Anyone else have any ideas about exhaust? I am not trying to hijack this thread, but my exhaust is literally crumbling to pieces and I need a no-nonsense exhaust kit that can be shipped USPS. If anyone has a good combination, please let me know where you ordered it. As I live in Japan I need a good combination that works well and more importantly fits.

Re: Exhaust Kits on 4wd Blazer??

Summit shipped FedEx, I installed it on my truck w/ headers and ordered one for my Blazer w/ headers that I haven't installed it on yet. I will post my experience with the Blazer install. The truck install was easy because I re-used my collector flanges becasue they I have 3" output headers

Re: Exhaust Kits on 4wd Blazer??

If you have not bought the headers yet I reccomend the shorter
"Chevelle" style as they are called, mine don't hang near as low
as the ones that I took off, they are above the bottom of frame
rails, old ones were low & almost interfeared w/ spring hangers.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm, that kit would not have worked w/ my headers,
they sit up higher than yours, it was a straight shot over the T-case

Re: Exhaust Kits on 4wd Blazer??

Yeah, that's what it looks like with my headers too. Hooker headers to boot! The whole thing made no sense. The tech guy told me they were supposed to go around the crossmember!?

Re: Exhaust Kits on 4wd Blazer??

i used the hooker kit and the headers that go with them and a problem with the headers they sent 2wd headers instead of the 4wd ones , once they sent the rite headers it all fit well except the pipe for after the mufflers that goes over the rear axle so i just left it out , and i used some flow masters i got for free , it sounds healthy
