Whos here?
This forum seems to be rather slow lately. I thought it might help to get things moving by seeing who comes here often.
Who are you and whats your Blazer look like? I'll start with mine. My screen name is N2TRUX and my real name is Ken. I own an 82 C/K 2wd Blazer that I bought from the original owner 8 years ago. My intentions at the time were to restore it and add a few custom touches. Of course it wasn't long before that idea went out the window and it turned in to a full blown, money sucking, ground up, build up. There was a time when I did all my own customizing. I could wrench, fab, weld and paint well enough to have turned out a car or two for myself and help my buddies work on their projects. All that was before I had a business to run and a child to raise. Now I have both, and don't have the time to do what I once did. I'll have to admit when I do have the time I lack the motivation so I'm left with a couple of choices. I can either let projects sit and never get done, or pay someone else to do the work. I chose the latter, but it's not all that easy finding a decent shop to do your work. They are always motivated to get started, but never seem to have the energy to finish the job. I went through a few of those before I found the right one. Before I get in to the present, let's take a look at the past. Here's what I started with. It was a very well maintained 1982 Blazer. Unfortunately it had a 305 that had 200k on it, so it was rather tired and leaked...a lot!

Re: Whos here?
I have only had a couple of lifted trucks in my life. Everything else I have ever owned was lowered. I like "all" custom trucks whether they are 2wd or 4wd, but I prefer lowered 2wd's.
Naturally I had to take some height out of my Blazers ride. I had a set of 17's that I took off of my 97 short bed crew cab. The back space was all wrong, but it looked better than the rallies. In this pic the front has dropped spindles, and air bags. The rear only has a shackle. The rear needs to come down about a foot still. The spots are primer where we filled the trim holes.

Re: Whos here?
My neighbor worked at a body shop that repaired Europen exotics. In his spare time he would take on small jobs. We wleded up all the trim holes, and dumped the dumbo mirrors.
I planned to put a new windshield in so we removed the old one and cleaned the area around the glass. There was no rust, but we wanted to make sure the old paint was stripped off, and it had a good coat of quality sealer. Here it is before we sealed and primed everything. Sorry for the poor quality. This is a scan of a bad pic.

Re: Whos here?
I put a three full coats of DP 40 on it, installed new window rubber with the new glass. I had the bumpers rechromed, and put a fresh grill in it. It was time to roll it out and see what the response would be. I went to one of the last Mini-Nats in Waco in 2000.
In the back ground is my 97 Centurion crewcab, and my Buddy Keith's Caprice wagon.

Re: Whos here?
My name is Mike and I live in Lubbock, Tx. The reason for the mg83 is for my 83 chevy longbed that I sold last fall. I missed it so much that I bought an 87 Blazer right before christmas. It is black and has a 350w/tbi. I will try to put a picture on here later. I do have a digital camera but I have no idea how to post a pic. Anyway, I hang around here because I have lots of work to do on the Blazer. I recently had the air conditioner fixed. Future projects include new paint, new crate engine, and new carpet. I am also about to try to adapt an overhead console from a small blazer of the same year model to the K5. I l am happy to have this blazer. I am about to turn 40 next month. I have wanted a K5 since I was 16.

Re: Whos here?
I haven't been on this part board since last fall. I actually got started working on my 1980 2wd Blazer today. I pulled the tarp off and put on new tires with blasted and repainted ralley wheel. My doner engine will be exhuimed tomorrow from it's slumber in a wrecked 79 Nova. (I don't have any new pictures so here's a couple of old one's.) I live in Durham NC. My name is Joel alias (Big Block)

Re: Whos here?
The 305 had bad rod bearings. The previous owner ran it hot. The inside of the motor was so gummed up it couldn't get oil to the bearings. Now to the Nova, well a tree branch fell on it and crushed the roof. I bought it off a guy I work with. The engine had been rebuilt recently. by the way a paid a whopping $200 for the Blazer and $700 for the Nova. Trying to keep this a low budget project. I plan on parting the rest of the Nova out to recoup some money spent on the Nova. I own to many vehicles to keep them all going. I have 4 that a used on daily basis, and 4 project vehicles.

Hi, my name is Brian and this is my wife's 78. I'm going to convert it to a full top. I hope to get started on it by mid july. I've got to finish my mustang first. Then hers and then on to my 72 2wd. Here's some pics of the donor vehicle, and what she's wanting her's to end up like.

Re: Whos here?
Hey,I`m Tim and I have a`90 Blazer I bought new.We were wanting to sell it,but I`m back to keeping it for now.At a crossroad with it.Too many projects, always will unless I completely stop and sell it all.I want a soft top,but really always wanted to modify to 73-75 top.It needs paint, but I might just go more towards off road machine.I should keep it simple:`76-up soft top,fix paint, and keep it a sleeper as far as off road ability and retain roadability. It`s got an Auburn Gear rear,4spd manual,no lift/33s,manual L/Os,and needs a clutch soon(Centerforce Dual Friction). So,actually,if I put an Auburn up front it would be meaner than most without looking it.

Hey! I'm Wedgemon - real name Dave. A Blazer Lurker from the 73-87 Pick-up side.
I just last Friday picked up my first Blazer. $500 for a 73 K5 Cheyenne. 350 4v/350 auto, The bonus items I discovered, after cleaning it out: Dual 21/4 inch exhaust with H pipe and Magnaflow muffs. 4 inch Rancho lift with RS5000 shocks. Really nice slotted 15 inch polished aluminum wheels. And 35 inch BFG Mudders. (3 of 5 are shot!), A sony control unit, CD/MP3, 2 amps (not sure what rating - they're buried), 10 disc Sony changer, Spare center console, Midland CB, and an extra NP203. Got this in a divorce deal. It runs well, sound better and will be a great project for me and the boy. (Who aspires to be the next Chip Foose!). Anyway, here's some pics from Saturday aftera trip to the boneyard for a grill and trim. This will be getting a sibling end of this week. A 79 K10, Shortbed!! For free!! Can't beat that price! That's it for now. I'll update Blazer pics as we progress. We all dig the pics! - Dave

Re: Whos here?
Blazers are kind of an addiction. I have had 17 73-91 Blazers at last count. Right now I don't even have a truck though, but that will probably change pretty soon. It always does.

Hey, I'm Kelly and this is my 76:
Bought it about 2 years ago. Has a jasper rebuilt 350 to which I added the rams horns exhaust manifolds, a weiand stealth intake and Holley 670 Truck Avenger. THM350, unadulterated NP203, Dana 44 front and GM 12 bolt rear... Runs great, but the body on it is shot.

Re: Whos here?
I'm Brandon also a truck and blazer owner. I've owned a 74 a few years ago but recently got the 79 K-5. It's definatley a work in process. I picked it up from a guy for $500 with a almost complete interior, 400 factory small block, NP203, TH350 and 10 bolt front 12 bolt rear. I'm right now chaning the flexplate to a new one. After the battery and starter got changed it fired up fine but now the plate seems to be giving me fits. Here's some pics from my phone when I first looked at it. Body still looks the same but I've cleaned up the interior and got the rear window rolled up again.

Re: Whos here?
Brad from Paris TX here. I am in the process of getting house plans done and hopefully starting to build soon. Already have the dirtwork done....blueprints should be done Friday. Hopefully I can get the house done soon and get the multitude of projects moved on to the property and able to start working on them some. I have currently running a 1996 Yukon 4 door lowered I guess about 3/5 or so. A 1995 ECSB on air (still need to get the 4 link done to get the back down more along with a bigger notch). Not running there is my 1975 2wd Jimmy which hopefully will be getting back on the road before Christmas butnot gonna hold my breath....won't be done for MANY years I am sure lol. I also have a 1974 K5 Blazer which is a long term project as well as a 1964 C10 my dad bought new which MIGHT be getting a 454 transplant soon. Also have a 1966 C10 I bought for parts which I thought about actually keeping together and making an all out drag truck out of (no title).....Other than a 1987 Chrysler Conquest TSI thats about all the projects automobile wise. Hopefully when things get settled back down I can get back to work on the rides. Heres an older pic of the 75 Jimmy and 74 K5 and a photoshop of the Jimmy.

Re: Whos here?
My name is Doug Wright and i am a self pronounced Blazeaholic. Currently i own 6 blazers in various states of repair or disrepair. My prized 76 chalet of all things is my daily driver as i work in the oil fields as a directional hand and one never knows where you might end up and haveing a portable place to sleep comes in handy. I also own a 79 K5 which used to be my daily driver...over the years she has went from mall cruiser to rock crawler....i still can't believe i used a sawzall on my prime gm fenders years back. Currently the 79 has been at Offroad Design in carbondale colorado since mid january getting the next step mods....(700R4-Doubler/14B FF w/4.88's-ARB/10B front has ARB-4.88's-x-over steering-chrome moly shafts-super joints). Its costing me around 10K to have the mods done which i would normally do myself but i spend a lot of time in the field so i actually had to outsource the work. The second 79 is a 2wd i rescued from a field in montrose colorado...total cost...the old 12B w/detroit from the 79...not bad to start with. The 74 is a great project all though i have no idea what i am going to do with it...the frame has been massaged and painted black and the tub is rust free...bought it from a friend in phx for $500 as i wanted to see it go to a good home...guess i'm kinda like an old lady with one to many cats....lol. The 77 is a replacement body for the chalet...it has a slight nebraska rust issue. The 90 Jimmy i walked into for $500....interior is ruff...needs a little wiring work but starts and runs so i could not pass it up as well. And if all goes well Jon Boy is providing me with number 7...a 77 converted to a full vert...what i allways wanted to start with in a 2wd.
I have to go to another rig really quick...when i get back i'll sit down and hopefully teach myself how to post pics so i can share... DW
