Finally...more quality time spent with the Blazer... - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Well, now that we are somewhat organized in our new shop addition, I finally got to work on the Blazer. The progress for the last day and a half goes as follows:
1. Cut all rust out of the firewall, welded new patch panels in (including the factory a/c holes), primed and painted the entire firewall.
2. Dropped the engine in for the motor mount mockup.
3. Made a new frame mounted bracket for the Panhard bar.
4. Removed all the glass from the top, cleaned the glass, tinted the glass, and re-installed it.

Hopfully tomorrow, it will be next door at the frame shop getting a little tweaking in the rear.

I still need to strip and paint the spindles and brake hardware and install the new p/s gearbox and tie rods. Later, Mark

I am going to run Vinatge Air (or something comprable) front and rear.

I bought a 2WD blazer frame from board member ChrisH. It was a godsend. Easy conversion.

I wasn't planning on it but now that you pointed out all the photos of my old 68 floating around the net, I might (only lower). I know that the reason I sold the truck is because I got tired of the color but I could have painted it...it does still look pretty good. I do miss it. I must press on with the one I have now though. Wow, it has been a while. I have got some more progress on the Blazer. I will need to go take a slew of pics to catch up. It won't be long before I will be driving it. I am currently trying to figure out the correct brake caliper to use on the Blazer. Apparently, the 2WD frame had the brake hard line to soft line behind the crossmember. My soft lines are too short to reach the attachment location on top of the caliper. Using the calipers with a more central location should be the ticket. I'll get some pics soon. Any input on the brake issue would be appreciated. Later, Mark

Hey Mark,... my '71 2wd has the steel line connect to the rubber line on the front side of the crossmember ('71-'72 connects here)
The '67-'70 trucks connect behind the crossmember.
The weird thing about my blazer,... is that I have metal tabs in both places.

Anyway,... I've been searching for a longer rubber line also. Since I bagged it,... the rubber lines are really stretched at full dump. I was going to go the stainless braided hose route,... but I didn't want to spend that much cash. So I decided to use '73-'78 hoses and new calipers. (I think the '79-'87 calipers have a metric banjo bolt)
I haven't installed these yet,... but the hoses are much longer.

Glad to see you back on the board!

I had SS braided hoses made when I bagged mine. The OG rubber hoses were getting kinked when I let all the air out. Not too expensive.
