turbo 400 wire ?
hello i pulled the motor and trans out of my 69 350/400 the wire that plugs in the side of the trans buy the speed cable where does the other end of it plug in thanks for any help

Yep, a switch on the carb, and if you were dealing with a 71 & up, it'd be on the throttle pedal.

I think it's called a throttle kickdown switch. The mounting varied, depending on the year, engine and carburetor. I'm putting up a pic of mine, but the bracket has been modified to fit on a Holley carb. This switch works with the vacuum modulator determines when your tranny downshifts.

Since you have a 69, the TH 400 "Kickdown Switch" will look like the one in the picture which is mounted to the rear stud of the carburetor on the Q-Jet.
There are only two wires hooked to the switch; a power wire and the wire from the detent switch on the transmission. The wires are yellow in the picture. Jm |

If you don't have the switch or bracket, the best option besides trying to find used is to replace the pedal and linkage from a 71-72. This puts the switch inside the cab and gives you a throttle cable instead of the rod linkage.

Most Camaro dealers sell the bracket. Dealers like Rick's First Generation, Classic Industries, D&R Classic, etc... They may even sell the solenoid plunger.
