LMC truck parts quality
I recently made a huge order from LMC truck and got the free shipping by doing so. That was a great deal, however I am dissapointed by the quality of some of my "original re production" parts
I ordered black door panels for my 69 GMC to replace my original green ones. My original door panels are metal with vinyl covering, but the "original re production" door panels I ordered are not. They arent even close except in looks. They are a heavy duty molded plastic with the correct lining and script. They look great, but Im very dissapointed that they arent vinyl, especially for the price. Anyone else have complaints like this? |

Re: LMC truck parts quality
yes. there is a "Reviews" forum here that is dedicated to reviews, you will find several other negative reviews over LMC, their service and their products. most people stick with the vendors here at the forum, because they are not only selling the parts, but owning several and driving several of the trucks. some of them, like Wes @ ClassicHeartbeat.com, avidly work with out trucks. Brothers Trucks is another great vendor to purchase from. There is a list of about a dozen that all have their key benefits and some specialties.
only thing i've found LMC for is their catalogs - they do a great job of showing brake/fuel line routing and other blown up diagrams!

Yep. LMC sucks. Be happy you got what you ordered and not ford parts.

Re: LMC truck parts quality
I've only ordered a few things from them. Their bumpers suck, the chrome started coming off after just a few years and I bought a lot of rubber parts for the doors etc that didn't fit too well. Their dual exhaust kit works well but comes with instructions that don't even look like the pipes you bought (I'm not the only one who has posted this about the instructions) and it is VERY tight fitting if you have a coil spring rear end truck, but it does function well. I've bought A LOT from board vendors lately and have been happy with about 95% of it. I was a little disappointed with a couple things, but overall everything has fit ok or better.

There prebent brake lines are horable! Especially master cylinder to frame lines. They were only about 3" off. Rocker panels shredder food!

Re: LMC truck parts quality
Yea i was planning on buying one of their interior kits to reupolster the whole interior of my truck. Glad that i didnt do that!!!! To get my radio, new gaugues, bezel, a/c hoses all in i had to take all the stuff out of the dash so i figured i better buy a new dash pad on so i decided to just order the dash pad from LMC other than the entire interior since i was short on cash, i got in in and it looks OK but it seems to be alot lighter of a blue that should be, so im kind of bummed on that, and will probably never have a matching interior unless dig everything out of the dash and put in a new dash pad i order the rest of the stuff from LMC, but that wouldnt match the stuff i have that is nice and original e.g. headliner. Any advice on where to get interior pieces e.g. seat door panels carpet, and how do you find the vendors on this site, or do you just have to know who they are. thanks

Re: LMC truck parts quality
I personally really like Manes Truck Parts they seem to have good stuff and don't charge an arm and a leg for shipping. They also have OEM type door pannels. They seem like a small Ma & Pa business so service is great not like some huge LMC corp that is a call center full of idiots that know nothing about their products.

Re: LMC truck parts quality
you know, LMC should spend as much money on their parts as their catalog, then they might be somewhere

Re: LMC truck parts quality
I forgot to add that I bought a set of "chevrolet" hood letters from them for my '67 about 2 years ago... they now have light pitting and when I tried to take them back off to paint the hood last weekend, both of my "E"s broke!!!!!!! I have to spend another $40 on another set! BOOOOOOOOOOO LMC!

Re: LMC truck parts quality
Isn't there any good, quality American manufactures left that produce parts for our trucks anymore? Besides getting lucky at the local bone yard, I'm guessing no. That ain't right. Good luck.

Re: LMC truck parts quality
There are only a couple manufactures of most of the reproduction parts. Many of the places are all selling the same parts, your just paying different amounts for the CS, marketing & overhead. There isn't enough market to have many manufactures of parts for our trucks.
LMC is ok if you know what you want and don't rely on their customer service. Unfortunately, they have higher volume sales so they can often sell at lower prices than many other vendors. Personally, I usually use their catalog and then call one of the board vendors (like WES) to see what the price is. Often, the part price might be higher, but the shipping is less making it a wash.

Re: LMC truck parts quality
The smaller board vendors might be a little more expensive but it pays off in the long run because you get their expertise and knowledge that they will not sell you junk. Frank, Wes and GMC Paul have all been good for me.

Any if not all the board vendors have a better customer service, try getting that with LMC, the kids working there can't tell a difference from an elbow and butt crack

This is the 5th thread in the announcements, at the top of this board.. it lists the vendors that donate money to this board...I have only dealt with a few of them, but have heard mostly good stuff about all of them.

Re: LMC truck parts quality
I recently bought floorboards, rocker panels, and lower door pillar peices from LMC for my 69 GMC custom. They were all too skinny, too short, and not the right bends or shapes. I will never buy body parts from them again. Next time I will look for vendors on the site. I ended up looking for a new cab, but found another 69 GMC with a solid cab, but still needs other work. Now I am trying to figure out which one I want to fix first. I want to keep the cab on my custom so all my numbers will continue to match.
