Front Suspension Rebuild
OK, so I didn't see any FAQs on this, so I figure since I'm already planning on doing it, I might as well take some pictures along the way. Only thing is, I've never done this before.
So..... Can ya'll give me a little checklist of what all I need to do, and what order to do it in? I don't want to leave anything out for the FAQ. Toad

Re: Front Suspension Rebuild
Tell us what your plans are? I mean are you going to do everything, from ball joints to tie rods to springs and spindles. You can also replace the A arms bars if you want. MOOG and TRW make the best parts!!! I just completed doing everything and have lots of pics if you need them.

Re: Front Suspension Rebuild
I've posted them already. PM me your email and I will send the big pics to you. Here is the link to the finished product complete with sway bar. Everything that was black from the factory is now Hammered silver, yes frame is hanmmered silver. Truck is torch red so lots of my parts are torch red to match.

Re: Front Suspension Rebuild
Hey Todd, here is a few "Inspiration" shots for you. I replaced everything. ECE 2.5" drop spinds, 2" GF drop springs, TRW ball joints, "A" arm pivot rods (not sure what they're correct name is).

Re: Front Suspension Rebuild
Here's what I did to my truck, when it was converted from discs to drums.
1. Upper/lower control arm shafts AND bushings (previously referred to as "A" arm pivot rods. (NAPA) 2. Upper/lower ball joints (NAPA) 3. Inner/outer tie rod ends (NAPA) 4. Idler Arm (NAPA) 5. Pitman Arm (NAPA) 6. Stabilizer bar relocator brackets (for lowered suspension) 7. Springs (stock height - ECE) 8. Shocks on all four corners (ECE/NAPA) 9. Rear springs (minus 4-inches) ECE 10. Adjustable track bar (for dropped suspension - ECE) 11. Rear shock mounts/relocator brackets (revised suspension geometry - ECE) Of course, the drum to disc conversion kit came with other parts that are necessary, all from ECE. Those guys were great to deal with, which doesn't mean that board members who sell the stuff are not.....they're good guys, too.

Re: Front Suspension Rebuild
I went through mine including the poly trailing arm bushings.
My kit came from www.p-s-t.com "it's so easy, even a Caveman can do it..." |
