And you thought the PO of your truck was a tool, (look at this dude's truck)

I found this on another 67 - 72 forum I frequent.

At first, I saw this one, and said... well, it looks typical, the radio hole is big enough to put a TV in, but I've seen worse.

So then i saw this one.... I thought good lord, this thing is hacked!
Remember guys... less is more.

Then the kicker, this one should win the poor guy some kind of an award... like a new cab or something.
Just look at this crap!

Just becouse you CAN do it, doesn't mean you SHOULD do it.

I'd say that truck was plugged in.

I can't believe they molested a dash to install Radiocrap junk.

Re: And you thought the PO of your truck was a tool, (look at this dude's truck)

Thats freakin hilarious...looks like an airplane cockpit with crappy radio gear. I just had to rewire a 69 firebird that was almost that bad...It had like 12 switches where the radio and heater controls were supposed to be with all the battery power coming in on red #10 wires straight from the battery, you had to flip three switches push the brake down and push a silver button under the dash to start it. I ended up building most of the dash harness from the firewall to the column, lightswitch, heater controls, guage cluster plug etc. all over again. I'm glad I don't have to fix that mess. usually a guy will bring crap like that to me and say he wants all of that garbage to work.

Re: And you thought the PO of your truck was a tool, (look at this dude's truck)

Holy crap!! And I thought mine was bad. I recently bought one that the PO not only cut two circular holes next to the ashtray for guages but also had put enough radios in the stock location that the hole was too big. So what did they do then? Tried to open up the ashtray hole large enough to fit it in there. When they realized the two oversized holes would then become one huge hole before any radio would fit, they gave up. They then put a large plexiglass plate over the hole mess (much like you see there) and then mounted the radio to the plexiglass and put the ass of the radio through the hole in the dash. I wont even get into the 4 different transmission tunnel repairs (for different shifters), the sunroof, the CB antenna out the back of the cab or how they bent the back cab corners under (by the frame) for the exhaust to run along the outside of the frame rails....

What really sucks is that it's a rust-free cab!!

No doubt those are HOT aircraft switches, fuse holders and other crap randomly installed with no rhyme or reason. Just buy a airplane if that's what you want. What a frickin' mess!

Funny you mention that... I just got both the bill and ted moies on DVD 3 days ago, and watched them for the first time in 15 years.

Re: And you thought the PO of your truck was a tool, (look at this dude's truck)

I can see rigging up a toggle switch or two, to by-pass an old burnt-out switch, or run a new accessory, but there is no way that anyone would ever need all those! About the radio opening...it's better than some I've seen, at least they didn't bend back the metal with pliers, and force-fit the radio in there. Who knows...maybe it was a prototype truck for Back To The Future!
